You tell me that online newsreaders are good for people who use public terminals, while desktop newsreaders are for people who read web content offline. I am in both of these categories, specifically, opportunities for connect time are precious and are spent downloading content. Is RSS available for (preferably "batch oriented") downloading without running downloaded software (a no-no where I surf) with downloaded feeds accessible with some program I can run on my own computer.

A description of my current online methodology can found at http://tribes.tribe.net/netizen

Thank the RSS GOds that you explained this. I have read bits and peices about RSS but I could never figure out how I could use it for my content and now I think it is sinking in. Thanks!

Great article. RSS feeds are so useful, and yet so few people are using them. Sometimes it's easier to learn by seeing an example, which is why I created a few video tutorials to help people with this. With your permission here are some links:

What is RSS?
How to add an RSS feed to IE7
How to add an RSS feed to Firefox

If we keep putting out the good word, hopefully more people will start using all these great tools that are available on the web.

Hi, firstly, great article, I have rss feeds running on some of my websites, as a noivice it took me a little while to figure out how to do it, but all the help is out there on the net. What I like about it is the constant changing content that google sees as updates to my sites, and *hopefully* googlebots me more often!!

Your article was very useful. It would be great if you could add some information for webmasters or bloggers who wish to create an RSS feed for their website.

Hi, nice guide.. I'm trying to find something, I don't know if you've come across this, but I'd like to convert the front page of my blog into a news page, with constantly updated RSS feeds from all my favourite sites (and key word searches of news sites) displayed there... do you know an RSS reader which I can embed into a blog??! It seems like something which should exist, but although I've come close (Rollyo is a search engine I can embed into my blog, and Bitty is a browser I can embed into my blog), I can't find it! Thanks a lot for any tips.

Hi Alexandra,
Very interesting articles. Hopefully I'll get a handle on RSS soon.

Your link to Pluck does not work. Were you referring to Plucker?

Cheers,
Ot
