Alexandra was the research director for Governance in the Digital Economy, a three-year, US $2 million research program led by Digital 4Sight. She created the Governance program in 1998 with Digital 4Sight Chairman Don Tapscott, author of The Digital Economy and Growing Up Digital. The program examined best practices in e-government, e-democracy, e-politics, and e-states, and developed models for using the Net to enhance government service and accountability. The program's prospectus PDF is publicly available, as is Alexandra's introductory paper, "Beyond the Reinvention of Government" (PDF).The Governance program attracted its members from businesses and governments around the world. The program's corporate sponsors were IBM, EDS, and Hewlett Packard. The program's government members included e-government leaders from the governments of Canada, the United States, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Switzerland, Singapore, Malaysia, and New Zealand.The program's final conference was held in July 2001, in collaboration with the e-gov trade show. |
