I just wanted to say that I am enjoying your blog and your bloggespondence with Beth about social bookmarking. It will be very interesting where all of this ends up. I like your idea of trying to broaden the scope of del.icio.us by tagging broader topics. However, I am not sure that is the answer. While del.icio.us is ideal for tech savy people, it is not that user friendly for newbiews. We love tagging for both personal and social bookmarking and tried to come up with a much simpler user interface on blinklist to open up the concept to new users.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the UI, and in particular on dividing feeds into three channels and using the gmail like personalization features (starring of links and tags). Happy 4th of July weekend! Mike

I made a post on my blog about a tool called Gataga, where
you can subscribe to one tag that combines many social
bookmarking tools. I suppose you could already do this with
the various RSS mixing tools on the web...but Gataga is
certainly handy.

I don't know, I wouldn't necessarily call it focusing on interface design -- seems like it is adding functionality to user-interface.

Anyway, I just put up my cheat sheet/cliff notes to the new version and replied to your great idea in the post above!

A prettier del.icio.us may be just what's on the way. Joshua Porter reports that Joshua Schacter is now focusing on interface improvements - among them, a new feature that offers suggested tags based on tags you've already used.
